BIOGRAPHY

Veli-Ville Sivén (b. 1993) is a Helsinki-based interdisciplinary artist working across stage, exhibition, and performative contexts. Specializing in scenography, media art, and music, Sivén explores the boundaries of contemporary formalism and the precise moment where an unknown begins to look back at us.

At the core of his practice is a search for clarity as a necessity for perception. He uses staging as a method to evoke distilled precision of material, time, and space—inviting the audience to build magnificent new structures of their own experience. Within this ineffable, clear form, there is room for affective inspiration.

Sivén holds a Master of Arts in Lighting Design from the University of the Arts Helsinki, and he has worked as a lighting, set, and video designer, as well as a performer, musician, and curator. In 2024, he was honored with the Valosäde Award for the best lighting design of the year in Finland. His work has been presented internationally across various institutions, theaters, and festivals. He is a co-founder of redukt_studio and the music duo PWR NAP
