Veli-Ville Sivén (b. 1993) is a Helsinki-based multidisciplinary artist working across stage, exhibition, and performative contexts. Specializing in lighting, scenography, video, music and woodworking, Sivén explores the boundaries of contemporary formalism and the precise moment where an unknown begins to look back at us.
At the core of his practice is a search for clarity as a necessity for the experience. Much like watching a performance in a foreign language, its form comes into sharp focus. Sivén works within this wordless language—of space, material, the body, time, and rhythm—where beauty, emotion, and sensitivity reside. In the presence of clear form, there is room for inspiration.
Sivén holds a Master of Arts in Lighting Design from the University of the Arts Helsinki. In 2024, he was honored with the Valosäde Award for the best lighting design in Finland. He is a co-founder of the redukt_ studio and performs as a musician with Eleanoora Roosenholm and PWR NAP.
