ABOUT
KONE is a contemporary performance that draws inspiration from the construction site surrounding the Theatre Academy. The performers, dressed as construction workers, build a chair in the middle of the audience using a sensitive and thoughtful approach. The performance begins with the construction of stools for the audience to sit on, setting the stage for the gradual and deliberate creation of the chair. The use of the construction site as a backdrop add to the raw and immersive atmosphere of the performance. The space itself played a crucial role in the performance, with changing lights, sounds and motorized structures that actively participated in the performance, giving it an abstract and beautiful level. The audience is not only watching the performance but actively participating in it by observing the construction process and the final product as well as the space transformation.

Opinnäytteessäni pyrin havainnollistamaan, millä tavoin teatteriesityksen merkitykset syntyvät. Tutkielmani lähtökohdat ovat syntyneet kiinnostuksestani tarkastella katsojan kokemuksen muodostumista: miten katsojan esityskokemus muodostuu, millaisia yksilöllisiä ja kulttuurisesti jaettuja merkityksiä katsoja antaa esitykselle ja miten valo tai valosuunnittelu osallistuu merkityksenannon prosessiin?
